Who runs this
BUILD SHOP is run by its owner, who reads and approves every request by hand.
What we collect
- Your shop’s name and the address you chose.
- The owner’s email address, so we can tell you when your shop is approved and reach you about it. A request stays in our list until it is approved or we remove it.
- Your password, as a salted hash. We never store the password itself, so nobody can read it back.
- Your IP address, in two places. Counters of recent requests carry it, to slow down abuse; they are kept for about an hour and then cleared. And each shop’s own activity log records the IP address next to what an owner or staff member did, for the life of that shop.
Your customers’ data is yours
What a shop collects from its own customers, including their orders, belongs to that shop’s owner. We host it to run the shop and use it for nothing else. Shops owned by different people share nothing with each other. Owners can delete a customer or a whole shop from inside the app.
Who else handles it
Only the services the product needs, and only for what they are needed for:
- Cloudflare hosts everything, on its Workers and D1 services.
- Stripe receives an owner’s email address and business details if they connect a Stripe account, and the shop’s name when a shop fee is paid. Stripe’s own terms cover what it does with them.
- Resend carries email: the one-time code for a free-access request, which includes the owner’s email address and note, and, for shops that switch announcements on, the messages those shops send.
- Twilio carries text messages, only for shops that switch announcements on.
What we never do
There are no analytics, no trackers, no ads and no third-party scripts on this site or on any shop. We do not sell your data.
Cookies
On a shop’s own address, cookies exist only for signing in and for entering a code. On this site, the signup form sets one cookie, for two hours, to check that the form you send is the one we gave you. Nothing here follows you around.
Taking it with you
Owners can export everything in their shop as CSV at any time, free.
